• A la Carte Literary Services: Copyediting, developmental editing, proofreading, production, publication consulting, research, writing.

  • Book Boot Camp: Bring me your questions and concerns about your book project and we’ll work them out, whether you need character development, smoother transitions, or simply the encouragement to keep going. I’m working on a memoir myself, so at the very least we can share our dreams and frustrations about the process.
  • Proposal Prep: Well-crafted proposals sell books. When you’re ready to put yours together, I can help. Three words most writers don’t like to deal with are competition, demographics, and marketing. But consider them you must if you want to attract an agent or a publisher. Let me know when you’re ready and we’ll put together a comprehensive and accurate representation of your project so it can move from your desk to amazon.com’s warehouse. The proposal I put together for my own book earned me a spot in the “top fifteen” of a book proposal competition and landed me an agent (although she did not land me a book deal!). A resource I recommend is Elizabeth Lyon’s Book Proposals Anybody Can Write.
  • Women’s Writing CircleThe Amherst Writers and Artists (AWA) workshop method, used in my Women’s Writing Circle, fosters creativity, not critique, and focuses on process, not product. No one tells you how you “should” write. Instead, your own words are heard and valued just as they are. Writing prompts and exercises are presented to evoke responses, and all who want to share are invited to do so. Material offered within the circle is kept confidential and treated as fiction regardless of its factual components. Email me at hamblett2@mac.com if you’d like more information, and be sure to check out amherstwriters.com.
